Aluminium Rolling Library Ladder with Black Anti-Slip Metal Treads
Model M00259 is a rolling ladder built from aluminium tube stiles and black metal treads. The tread face is punched with slots that shed dust and give grip underfoot, which is what separates a working ladder from a decorative one. Tread tie rods run behind alternate treads to lock the two stiles together and stop the frame racking under load.
Four heights are produced from the same tooling. The two tallest are supplied as spliced stiles, so a 3048 mm ladder still ships inside a manageable crate.
Why Buyers Specify This Ladder
Slotted metal treads
Punched black metal treads clear dust and debris instead of holding it, so grip does not degrade in a workshop or store room.
Tread tie rods
Steel tie rods sit behind alternate treads and hold the stiles parallel, which is what keeps the frame from racking under a moving load.
Four heights
2200, 2438, 2743 and 3048 mm from one tread pitch, so a project can mix heights without mixing appearance.
Spliced tall sizes
The 2743 and 3048 mm stiles join from sections, cutting the longest crate dimension and the freight cost per unit.

Construction Detail

Anti-slip tread face
Each black metal tread is punched with parallel slots across the full width. Debris falls through rather than collecting on the step, so the grip surface stays usable in a stock room or workshop.

Tread to stile joint
Treads land in a cast bracket that wraps the aluminium tube, spreading load into the stile instead of concentrating it at a single fixing point.
Where These Ladders Are Used

Libraries and shelving
Reaches the top shelf of a full-height run and rolls aside so the whole wall stays accessible.

Lofts and mezzanines
Gives a fixed climb to a raised floor or storage deck without the floor area a staircase would take.

Retail, wine stores and kitchens
Used where stock sits above head height and the ladder is on show as part of the fit-out.
Common Questions
What are the tread tie rods for?
They tie the two stiles together behind alternate treads. Without them a tall ladder can rack sideways when someone shifts weight, which loosens tread fixings over time. Shorter heights take three rods, taller heights take four.
Why are the 2743 and 3048 mm versions spliced?
A one-piece stile at those heights makes the crate too long for economical shipping. The stiles join from sections at assembly, so the finished ladder is full height but the packed length stays manageable.
Are the treads slippery?
The tread face is punched with slots rather than left flat, which gives grip and lets dust fall through. This is the reason to choose metal treads over timber in a working environment.
Is the hardware or rail included?
This listing covers the ladder itself. Tell us the rail length and mounting you need and we will quote the matching rolling hardware with it.
Can the height be changed?
Yes. The four listed heights are standard. Other heights, finishes and tread types are produced to order against a drawing you approve first.
What is the difference from the oak version?
Model M00081 uses oak stiles and oak treads with a tube handrail, suited to a library or retail interior. M00259 uses aluminium stiles and slotted metal treads for working areas where grip matters more than appearance.
